How Much Value Does Pinterest Add to Search Engine Optimisation?

As we all, who deal with search engine optimisation on an everyday or regular basis, know that this, over a period of time, has become very popular in the web industry. With the increasing dependency of people on the World Wide Web, almost each and every business in the present world has got online presence. And to maintain a consistent presence in the web world, they need to occupy top ranks in the search engine results, which this SEO helps them in.  Now, quite recently, this has been combined with Social Media Marketing.

This has led to the emergence of many social media forums like Facebook, Twitter, Linkedin, Pinterest and many more. Amongst all these, the last one is the latest one in the list of social media platforms. Within a span of just 1 year, it has been successful in attracting around 4 million users. This is what made the web users gain interest in it more. Mostly, the search engine optimisation professionals started wondering whether it can be anyhow utilised for optimising the search engine results. The answer to this can be achieved from the answer to the question whether it can add any value to this field.

This is one of the biggest and most important questions where most of the webmasters seem to fail. It is because, we need to always remember that Pinterest is not a tool to be used for optimising the different results shown by the search engines like Google, Bing, Yahoo etc. when any topic is searched of. Instead it is just a social networking site, where people, rather the web users, can meet other web users with same or similar kind of interests. Hence, it is always better to treat this newest inclusion in the field of SMM as what it actually is. In other words, if one wants to succeed, he or she needs to give as much as the person in concern wishes to take. This means that he or she would have to be a part of the community, provide as well as share useful information to the other members of the community, be active to participate in the online discussions, pin and re-pin interesting and useful content and pictures for other Pinterest members and many more. To be precise, one needs to be an active member of the community. Now, while sharing and pinning the content and pictures, if he or she pins contents and pictures related to their business and website as well as which are relevant to the interest of the other members, it would automatically result in adding value in terms of search engine optimisation.

However, while pinning interesting and relevant content and pictures, one even needs to keep in mind that he or she is not over spamming the social platform with uninteresting and irrelevant photos just to fulfil the purpose of obtaining a link to their website. Apart from this, making and keeping connections with those pinners, who are interested in their business brand, which they are promoting would be an added advantage.

Summary: Pinterest though is a social networking site can add value in terms of search engine optimisation if utilised properly.
